KEYNOTE- Finding Hope in New Terrain

The past three years have changed us as helping professionals, as they’ve changed the families we work with, our organizations, and the familiar landscape of our lives. We’ve come through this period of fear, loss, uncertainty, and disconnection, but where are we now, exactly? A “post-Covid” time is still one of transition, where finding hope and confidence in our work may be a challenge.
This keynote presentation is an invitation to take a collective moment to validate our experiences, honour how we’ve coped, and re-ground ourselves in the present, exploring how to keep hope at the centre of our work as we find our path through new terrain.

Somatic Practices for Self-Regulation and Co-Regulation

As families with young children have experienced challenges to their mental health from pandemic-related disruptions to school, child care, family relationships, and finances, practitioners are also reporting higher levels of stress, burnout and caregiver fatigue. How can we provide support to struggling families when we ourselves are in distress? This session will explore supportive tools and practices for somatic regulation and co-regulation, for ourselves and those we serve. We will learn practical, effective strategies beyond "selfcare" to stay connected to ourselves, allowing us to centre the wellbeing of the children and families we work with.
